Designation : Associate - Knowledge and Capacity Building

Job Description:

To regularly assess the knowledge and training needs of RIN and other organizations in the field of pro-poor innovation and social enterprise, and to develop systems and content to meet these needs

Key Result Areas:
1.Training needs and willingness to pay assessed, business plan and curriculum developed, for courses for external stakeholders
2.Systems for planning and reviewing learning sessions for RIN staff and incubates created and implemented
3.Learning and training calendar developed and sessions delivered for staff at least monthly

The following are the key responsibilities to be undertaken as part of the job, and the outcomes to be expected from the execution of these responsibilities.

Outcome 1
Courses for external stakeholders meet their needs and are financially self-sustainable (at minimum).

Responsibilities:
•Refine methodology to assess training needs
•Assess training needs and willingness to pay
•Develop business plan
•Develop and periodically revise course content
•Remain current on similar courses offered by other institutions
•Assist in training of trainers

Outcome 2
Learning sessions for RIN staff and incubates are of high quality, as they are planned thoroughly and in advance, and incorporate feedback

Responsibilities:
•Create form for conceptualizing and planning learning sessions
•Create form for feedback and ensure that it is collected regularly
•Create learning aids for staff to support field visits
•Maintain database of speakers / trainers and share it with TDP
•identify members for “learning and capacity building board”

Outcome 3
Learning and training sessions are offered to RIN staff at least monthly.

Responsibilities:
•Ensure that there is widespread agreement and buy-in to the learning and training calendar, by developing it in collaboration with TDP and validating it with other program heads
•Develop session content through attending program meetings, accompanying staff on field visits, and in collaboration with other members of the KM program
•Identify speakers for delivering sessions
•Develop proposal for each session and present it to the “learning and capacity building board”
•Follow up with session speakers
•Ensure that logistical arrangements for sessions are in place
•Deliver select sessions

Villgro (Earlier Rural Innovations Network) is a non- Government social enterprise founded in 2001. The goal of Villgro is ‘creating social impact in rural India through self-sustaining business models’. This is achieved through the mission of ‘enabling grass-roots innovators commercialize their innovations and thereby impact rural India’. Over the past few years, the impacts achieved by Villgro are as follows:
• Impact coverage to 3 lac rural users
• Generation of a consumer surplus * of Rs 19.5 crores (social returns)
• Sales generated to the extent of Rs 6.2 crores through mentored innovations
• 1000 innovators identified. Identified innovators promoted to award levels
• 600 student innovators participate in ‘My Idea’ a program of RIN
• 81 grassroots innovators pre-incubated through training and capacity building
• 151 applications for incubation supported
• 47 innovations selected for funding and mentoring support
‘NET-WORK’ which is the resource base for innovator promotion in RIN has a team of 70-80 individuals consisting of: technologists, business experts, investors and social entrepreneurs. Basix, Tata Kisan Sansars, IDEI, and BIRD-K are innovation dissemination partners of RIN. IIT-Madras, TNAU, PSG, GRI, VIT are the technology and outreach partners

Experience : 2+ years of experience in Training and Development

Knowledge:

Competencies:
*Ability to anchor the learning sessions
*Persuasion
*Planned and organized
*Ability to ask for details

Experience: 2 - 3 years

Location: Chennai

Education: MBA/ PGDHRM from reputed institute
