Desgination: Recruitment of Income-tax Inspector / Tax Asstt

Job Description:

Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Ahmedabad invites applications for the recruitment of meritorious Sportspersons in different games/ sports :
The posts, pay scales and eligibility criteria are as below :

i) Inspector of Income-tax:
Graduation in any discipline from any recognized University.

ii) Tax Assistant:
* Graduation in any discipline from any recognized University.
* Should possess data entry speed of 8000 key depressions per hour on computer.

Eligibility Condition :
Age Limit : 20 to 27 years as on 25/8/2009. (Upper age relaxable up to 5 years for General / OBC candidates and 10 years in case of SC/ST candidates).

Nationality/ Citizenship :
A candidate must be either:
(a) a citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before 1st January, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Sports Eligibility :
Appointments can be made of a sportsman considered meritorious with reference to the following criteria :
Sportsman / Sportswoman who have represented :
i) A State in a National or the Country in an International competition in any of the games / sports mentioned in the list; or
ii) Their University in the Inter-University tournaments conducted by the Inter-University Sports Board in any of the games / sports mentioned in the list given below.

Company Profile:

The Income Tax Department functions under supervision and control of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). It has around 60,000 personnel located in more than 500 cities and towns across the country. The field offices are divided into regions, and each region is headed by a Chief Commissioner of Income Tax. Every region is assigned annual performance targets, such as revenue collections, and is provided with necessary expenditure budget to meet with its operating expenses.

The Income Tax Act 1961 lays down the frame work or the basis of charge and the computation of total income of a person. It also stipulates the manner in which it is to be brought to tax, defining in detail the exemptions, deductions, rebates and reliefs. The Act defines Income Tax Authorities, their jurisdiction and powers It also lays down the manner of enforcement of the Act by such authorities through an integrated process of assessments, collection and recovery, appeals and revisions, penalties and prosecutions. The Act is fast changing and dynamic in nature and undergoes amendments annually through the Finance Act.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 295 of the Income Tax Act 1961 and Rule 15 of Part A, Rule 11 of Part B and Rule 9 of Part C of the Fourth Schedule to the Act, the CBDT has notified Income Tax Rules 1962. These Rules lay down limits, conditions, definitions, explanations, and forms of applications and procedures for the uniform application of the Income Tax Act.

Desired Profile:

Note : In case suitable candidates are not available in any of the above game / sports, the Department has a right not to consider that game / sports.

Selection Procedure :
The application will be scrutinized and suitable candidates will be short listed for further selection procedure. For such short listed candidates a physical test will be conducted in each discipline of sports, as may suit the requirements thereof. Successful applicants, thereafter, may have to appear for a written test followed by an interview. Success in the above tests confers no right to appointment unless Department is satisfied after such inquiry as may be considered necessary that the candidate is suitable in all respect for appointment to the post.
